Shenzhen
Located at the southern coastal area of Guangdong Province, Shenzhen is a Special Economic Zone and important industrial base in China, with an area of 2,021 square kilometers and a population of 0.8 million.
The city borders with Hongkong, and is located in the Pearl River Delta, having six administrative districts:Bao'an, Futian, Longgang, Luohu, Yantian, and Nanshang.Since the
establishment of the Special Economic Zone in 1980, Shenzhen has made
rapid progress in economy. Its main industrial products are
electronics, light industrial products, textiles, garments, foodstuff,
building materials, machinery, and chemicals, over half output of which
are for export. It has become China's major export production base. In
magnetic heads of computer hard-discs, its annual production accounts
for 90% of China's total in value, while in diskettes and telephone
sets, over 50% in output. Shenzhen has arisen as an advanced
foreign-oriented industrial base.
The logistics industry of Shenzhen has been developped so rapidly since more than 20 years that it is considered as a miracle inner and outside China. But this development speed has at the same time met the requirement of the special economic zone in China. After constant progress during the 20 years, Shenzhen has become the 4th largest container harber in the world in 2005 and now Shenzhen has transformed from the logistics service provider of traditional harbor, storage, and agency to be a integrated modern logistics center with the representation of third party logistics industry.
